Lookup Metadata

Use Lookup Metadata to maintain Task Categories (jobs and tasks) used in timesheets.

Overview

Lookup Metadata opens the Task Categories workspace. You define category (job) columns and the tasks nested under them.

ViewPurpose
ActiveCurrent categories and tasks
DeletedSoft-deleted items you can restore

Predefined items are marked Predefined. Organization-created items are marked Customized.

This area is different from App Productivity, which classifies applications rather than timesheet jobs.

How to access

Settings → Lookup Metadata

Then open Task Categories and switch between Active and Deleted.

Lookup Metadata is not listed on the main menu. If you do not see it under Settings, ask your administrator for access.

What you can do

  • Create a new category (job) column
  • Add tasks under a category
  • Edit category and task names inline (changes apply when you leave the field)
  • Delete a custom category or task after confirmation
  • Restore items from the Deleted view
  • Rearrange items where drag handles are shown

Predefined items cannot be deleted in the usual way. The product shows a confirmation-style message instead of removing them.

Step-by-step workflow

  1. Open SettingsLookup Metadata.
  2. Choose New Category, enter a name, then leave the field.
  3. Under that category, add tasks and enter names.
  4. Edit a category or task name inline, then leave the field.
  5. Delete a custom category or task and confirm.
  6. Open the Deleted view and restore an item if needed.

Expected result

New categories and tasks appear in the Active view. Edited names update after you leave the field. Deleted custom items move to Deleted. Restored items return to Active with a success message.

While the page loads, placeholder cards appear. An empty list shows a no-data message.
