Global Settings
Global Settings is where you find two related things: the everyday controls available from the top of every screen — search, theme, help, download, notifications, and your own profile — and, for administrators, the company-wide configuration screens grouped under Settings. This section replaces what earlier documentation called "Users & Administration," now organized more completely.
What you can do here
| Area | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Application Header & Global Controls | Search, Dark/Light Mode, Help, Download, Notifications, and your User Profile (My Profile, Logout) — available to everyone, on every screen. |
| Settings | Company Profile, Organization Unit, Products & Services, Manage Users, App Productivity, and Lookup Metadata — company-wide configuration, mainly used by administrators. |
Who uses this area
Everyone uses the header controls — search, theme, notifications, and your own profile. The Settings screens are primarily used by administrators and managers who've been given access to configure the company. Settings is hidden completely for Client users, and even among staff, what someone can see or change under Settings depends on the access their administrator has granted them.
How to access
- Header controls — always visible at the top of the screen after signing in.
- Settings — click the gear icon in the top bar.
Roles and access (general guidance)
Access to Settings varies by role. These are typical starting points:
| Role | Typical access to this area |
|---|---|
| Super Admin | Full access to every Settings screen described in this section. |
| Admin | Full access to every Settings screen described in this section. |
| Manager | Can usually view Company Profile, Organization Unit, and the user list; not normally able to create, edit, or delete unless specifically granted. |
| Program Manager | Can usually view Company Profile, Organization Unit, and the user list; not normally able to create, edit, or delete unless specifically granted. |
| Employee | Can usually view Company Profile, Organization Unit, and the user list; not normally able to create, edit, or delete unless specifically granted. |
| Contractor | Limited view access — for example to Products & Services, Organization Unit, and the user list — and no edit permissions in this area by default. |
| Accountant | Not typically set up with access to these administration screens by default; their access centers on invoices, reports, and time off approvals instead. |
| Client | Doesn't see Settings or Download at all; uses a separate Client Portal. |
These are typical starting points, not guarantees. Your administrator can grant or remove specific permissions for any role, so always check what you can actually see and do rather than assuming based on your role title alone. For the full list of roles offered when inviting someone and their descriptions, see Manage Users.
(A "Timesheet Approval" role name also exists as a placeholder in the product, but it is not currently assignable — see Administration → Roles.)
